Gustav stirs up dust of faded famly memories.

As I sit here again glued to live feeds of storm surge, I find my mind drifting back to old fragments of memories from family life on the gulf coast. This is a nearly disappeared photo of my gr-gr-gr-great-grandfather, Frank Sutter, former mayor of Pass Christian, Mississippi, along that stretch of coastline once known as the "Riviera of the South." I can almost smell the Spanish moss hanging like tattered scarves in the live oaks.

Here's hoping that this hurricane passes as gently as possible, and that all in its path heed the warnings.
