Ecomagination more than just a clever phrase.

I came back to GE as a brand investment a couple of years ago after the launch of the Ecomagination positioning campaign. Because it was more than just a campaign. It was clear that Immelt&Co were ready and willing to commit to the long-term vision necessary to carve out a new leadership position in alternative energy -- long before it was fashionable. Not just energy, but also water.

Today's news that GE Energy Financial intends to pump $2 billion more into renewable energy projects is welcome reinforcement of the commitment. This is the kind of push that will help get wind power over the hump.
