Biscuits and grits and a genuine smile.

Just listening in on the BB&T Q4 Conference Call and enjoying the calm, laconic, gentlemanly y'all-ing and straight-shooting of CEO John Allison. I'd forgotten how charming he could be in his front porch delivery.

Even more reassuring is John's delivery of the update that BB&T continues to hold to their strict disciplines, and has so far escaped much of the doom and gloom of the sub-prime hooey.

Not surprisingly, the stock is up another 3% so far today, on top of a similar gain yesterday.

Good people. High standards. Driven by a genuine belief in respect for the individual.
